Robert on Pulau Tiga

My name is Robert. Someone who sees the beauty in the world and who wants to soak it up like a sponge. Someone who needs that little adventure to feel alive. The above photo shows me on the island of Pulau Tiga, Borneo, when I was in the first group of journalists to visit the location where the very first season of the new CBS reality television series “Survivor” had just been produced.

I want to share my experience in traveling the globe to inspire you, to widen your horizon, to open up to other cultures, to feel free and to motivate you.

This is a quote I read on my first “big” travels when I was about to quit traveling within the first two weeks of my departure…

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

This quote gave me so much strength and motivation to explore the world and open up my mind. After that day I met many interesting people: rich, poor, intelligent, simple, warmhearted people. I am very happy to learn from all those people and to share my experience with them and now with you.

Right after that first quote I noticed another one:

“Often I feel I go to some distant region of the world to be reminded of who I really am. There is no mystery about why this should be so. Stripped of your ordinary surroundings, your friends, your daily routines, your refrigerator full of your food, your closet full of your clothes — with all this taken away, you are forced into direct experience. Such direct experience inevitably makes you aware of who it is that is having the experience. That’s not always comfortable, but it is always invigorating.”
– Michael Crichton

…after that my adventure began and so can yours!
